Join us as we explore the practice of Yoga Nidra! Yoga nidra, or “yogic sleep” is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, typically induced by a guided meditation. It is a practice that strengthens the deepest layers of our consciousness; making it possible for us to stabilize deeper states of awareness and awakening that we achieve in meditation.

Most often practiced in a supine or reclining position, Yoga Nidra takes you out of your “fight or flight” mode, into a relaxation response, or your body’s natural healing state. Through self-intention (sankalpa), body sensing, breath awareness, guided imagery and other practices, you are guided on a meditation journey.

Nidra is meant to incorporate the koshas, or the five layers of awareness of the true self: Physical, Sensation, Thoughts, Witness, and Bliss. Through yoga nidra you will feel each part fully and clearly; transforming, healing, and rejuvenating your entire being. Every 20 minutes of Yoga Nidra equates to one hour of REM cycle sleep. It eases deep tension in all layers of tissue, eases insomnia and fatigue, strengthens different levels of consciousness, and uplifts our pranic field.

ABOUT INSTRUCTOR STEPHANIE DU PONT-FISHER

Stephanie began her yoga journey in search of relief from anxiety, wanting to further her connection between body and breath. After some time, she decided that she had more to learn, and more to offer. After completing her 200-hour program at Dragonfly Studios in early 2018, under the direction of Alexis Ridge-Simek, she knew her calling was more of a grounding practice. To accept surrendering, letting go, and being able to create a quiet, healing space for the mind, body, and soul. Growing in her own personal journey, Stephanie has studied Paranayama under Joe Simek and completed her 30-hour Restorative Training with Rachel May. She recently completed Goddess Chair Yoga Training with Darla Lux & Debbie Wenclawiak. Her next journey will begin this Fall, as she enters her 300-hour Teacher training. Stephanie’s soothing voice and guidance throughout her practices are not only helpful to those she teaches but has become an extremely therapeutic tool for her own personal growth.
