At Dragonfly Yoga Studio, we believe a physical yoga practice should be available to anyone, which is why we offer a Chair Yoga class on our weekly schedule.

Designed to be practiced while seated or supported by a chair, chair yoga offers a myriad of benefits for both the body and mind. Chair yoga combines the principles of traditional yoga postures, breath control, and meditation, making it an excellent option for individuals with limited mobility, injuries, or those who prefer a more relaxed approach to fitness.

In a chair yoga practice, participants can experience improved flexibility, strength, and balance by engaging in modified poses that focus on stretching and toning the body. The use of the chair provides stability and support, allowing individuals to safely explore their range of motion without the need to get down on the floor. Moreover, chair yoga promotes better posture, which can alleviate tension and discomfort often associated with prolonged sitting.

Instructor and certified yoga therapist Joe Simek also weaves the Joint Freeing Series into his chair yoga classes. This series focuses on gently mobilizing and energizing all major joints in the body, including the shoulders, neck, spine, hips, and ankles. Through a systematic sequence of rhythmic and controlled movements, the Joint Freeing Series aims to improve joint flexibility, release tension, increase circulation, and enhance overall mobility.

Beyond the physical benefits, chair yoga offers a meditative and calming experience. Grounding breathing techniques and mindfulness exercises are incorporated to enhance relaxation, reduce stress, and promote mental clarity. The practice encourages self-awareness, fostering a sense of well-being and inner peace.
